In the summer of 2019, I came across a podcast called “Expanded” by Lacy Phillips, where she interviews different leaders in various fields to “expand” listeners in regards to what is possible.

Lacy is a firm believer that everyone can manifest the reality they desire. She created a formula for manifestation, and although manifestation is sometimes regarded as ‘woo woo,’ she breaks it down with neuroscience and psychology.

Lacy’s brand To Be Magnetic has fascinated me in many ways. She’s built and led a team, which is essentially her own startup — without VC funding. The brand is constantly growing and positively impacts hundreds of thousands of people every day.

She’s manifested an incredible career by providing people with tools to do the same.

If you’re a fellow self-awareness and self-improvement junkie, then you’ll enjoy the framework she’s created. The concrete steps are helpful tools to help you better understand 1) what’s in your way and 2) how to get it out of the way so you can move forward.

In this article, I’ll introduce Lacy’s core concepts:

Self Worth

“When you’re in your worth, it’s a quiet, humble gracefulness.” —Lacy Phillips

If you want to be a magnet for everything you desire, you have to be in your worth. Self worth isn’t a final destination - it’s a constant practice and refinement. Your self worth may be different in various areas of your life: you may have high self worth when it comes to your relationship and love, but low self worth when it comes to your dream job, or vice versa. Everyone has comfort zones and weak spots.

Being in your worth is when you feel deserving of what you desire or have in your life.

Your Authentic Code

Your authentic code is your core essence. It defines the values that make up who you are and dictates what should be filling all of your time. Anything that isn’t your authentic code should be delegated or detoxed from your life.

To clarify your code, I recommend scanning the list below and picking a few attributes that resonate. These should be concepts that define your soul desires. Not the desires that society places on you, but what you truly innately need in life to feel fulfilled: Knowledge, Luxury, Vibrancy, Creation, Self Care, Family, House, Nature, Love, Independence, Security, Romance, Passion, Peace, Building, Intuition, Intellectual, Home, Design, Entrepreneurship, Connection.

My authentic code is:

  • Home: homebody, cozy, family, connection, clean

  • Freedom: schedule, finances, free time

  • Peace: rest, comfort, spaciousness, learning, reading

  • Intellect: learning, growth, creation, strategy, writing, meaning, books, problem-solving, business

Create a List

Based on your authentic code, what do you need more of in your life? Would you like to manifest more inner peace? A new home? A partner? An opportunity?

Unblock and expand

What limiting beliefs stand in your way? This might be something like: “only people who come from wealthy families can start a company.”

Typically, when something is blocking you, you need an expander. This is someone who has a similar background to you who has achieved what you want. Expanders can be someone famous or someone in your life.

Clear space

You can’t bring something new into your life if the old is in the way. Creating space might be as simple as decluttering your home, deleting old phone contacts, or even unfollowing people on social media. It can also be something large, such as ending a relationship, leaving a job, or finding a new home.

Say no and pass tests

Tests look very similar to what you’re calling in, but they force you to settle in some way. For example, let’s say you’re job searching and you’ve created a list for what you want:

  • $100,000 salary

  • In River North, Chicago

  • With a team of 8-10 people

  • A manager that is conscientious and a great communicator

Let’s say you get a job offer that has everything on your list, but is below your salary expectation. Assuming you have enough money in savings when you left your last job, you should say no to this opportunity and keep looking. Saying no = passing the test.

When we walk away, we communicate to ourselves (and the world) that we’re in our worth and refuse to settle for less than what we desire and deserve.

Follow pings

Pings are random thoughts or motivations that come our way. For example, you might receive a ping to say yes to a party invite, and once there, you meet an interesting stranger, talk for hours, and learn there’s an open job at their company.

Following pings means allowing yourself to go where the wind takes you, to be openminded, and by saying yes to your pings, you’ll find new opportunities, maybe even the exact opportunities on your “List.”

More lists

I’m a big fan of creating lists. With Lacy’s work, I’ve found it helpful to write down the following:

  1. What you want to manifest

  2. Core beliefs that are blocking you

  3. Your manifestations so far

  4. Tests you’ve encountered (things you needed to say no to)

  5. Your authentic code

  6. Activities that help you access your authentic self (for me, this is dancing, writing, taking a bath) and do these activities as often as possible, especially if you’re in a rut

  7. Write down the attributes of your higher self. What would you be doing every day?

  8. Who are your expanders and why? You might have romantic expanders, career expanders, home expanders, etc.

The Pathway

The core for me with Lacy’s work is the concept of authenticity and finding your authentic code. If you take anything away from this article, I hope you regularly practice activities that light you up! You can sign up for The Pathway here. Use code KASIA for 15% off.
